Description
Coatee, full dress, officers’, 49th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's or Hertfordshire), worn by Lt Arthur Savory Armstrong, 1852 (c). Scarlet wool fabric with blue facings, gold embroidery, metal thread, gilt-metal buttons. Armstrong was killed in the early stages of the Battle of Inkerman, Crimean War (1854-1856), when the Russian artillery on Shell Hill cannonaded Home Ridge.
