Officer's shoulder belt plate, 1850 (c). Associated with 43rd Regiment of Bengal Light Infantry. Officer's rectangular gilt brass plate bearing the following design in relief: upon the centre of a gilt Maltese cross with raised frosted borders bearing battle honours, one on each arm, a gilt metal laurel wreath. In the wreath a circlet bearing the title, 'Bengal Light Infantry'. In the circlet the silver numeral, '43', on a gilt metal domed ground. Above the cross is a gilt metal monarchial crown. Below the cross a bugle-horn in the curve of which is '1842' on a frosted gilt domed ground. To each side of the bugle horn a frosted gilt scroll bearing a battle honour and terminating in acanthus leaves. Associated with 1st Afghan War (1838-1842), Gwalior (1843) and 1st Sikh War (1845-1846).
