Pattern 1821, full dress Light Cavalry Officer’s sword (20th Hussars), 1874-1890 (c); the blade is of the new fullered, promoted by Wilkinson’s, which replaced the pipe-backed in 1850 (c), decorated with leaf and scroll designs, and the royal cypher of Victoria; three bar iron guard; grip is covered with fish skin and bound with silver wire; purchased from Wilkinson’s Sword Co. in 1874; was carried by Capt R J E Oliver Bellasis during the Sudan Campaign of 1885; is dated 1868 in Royal United Service Institute files.
