Description
Commemorative pen tray owned by Captain J S G Ryley, 5th Bengal Light Cavalry, 1850 (c). Wood tray with metal stirrup in centre, behind it the regimental badge upon a small plinth; with 2 horse hooves on either side which are removable. Circular depressions in the tray, possibly used to contain inkwells. The hooves come from the horse ridden by Captain J S G Ryley who was killed at the Battle of Ramnaggar, November 1849.
