Officer's shoulder belt plate, 31st Regiment Madras Light Infantry or Trichinopoly Light Infantry, 1840-1846 (c) Rectangular gilt brass plate bearing the following silver design in relief: within a laurel wreath is a frosted garter bearing the title, 'Light Infantry', within which is the Roman numeral, 'XXXI', decorated with acanthus leaves upon a domed gilt metal ground. Below the garter is a scroll bearing the battle honour, 'Mahidpoor'. Above the garter, in the break in the wreath is a monarchial crown. On the reverse is a hook in each upper corner and a stud in each lower corner. Associated with the Battle of Mahidpur, 3rd Maratha War (1816-1819), 1817.
