Pouch belt plate, 23rd Punjab Pioneers, dated 1902 Silver, hallmarked Birmingham 1902. Within a laurel wreath, a Maltese cross embellished with a lion passant gardant between the arms. The arms bear the battle honours, 'Taku Forts; Pekin; Afghanistan 1878 1880; Peiwar Kotal; Abyssinia; Charasia; Kabul 1879; Kandahar 1880.' In the centre, within a circlet bearing laurel sprays and title, 'Pioneers', the numerals, '23', on a chocolate coloured cloth ground. The whole surmounted by an Imperial crown. White metal backing plate. With a screw fastening.
