Textile Christmas card, 1902. Brown drab canvas, frayed at edges. Drawn in black ink, made by Mark (surname unknown), probably a soldier, 1902. With a thistle drawn below and corners coloured with blue/ purple ink. Associated with Frederick Henry Roe and the Boer War (1899-1902). Inscribed: 'Transvaal/ 1902/ Out on this lonely spot/ xmass [sic] cards cannot Be Got/ a Happy new Year I wish to thee/ on this wee Bit of auld Kharkee/ from/ Mark/ to Fred' '1926-7'; '1921-22-23-/ 1924 -25 -26/ 27'.
