Mess tin, owned by RSM C Fergusson, 3rd County of London Imperial Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), and used by him during the Boer War, 1899-1902. Tinned steel construction, with a rectangular wire carrying handle which fits into loops on either side; holds a mug and is contained in a case; called and ‘Tea Billy’ or ‘Patrol Tin’ in the Army and Navy Catalogue, 1907.
