Description
Pattern 1839 socket bayonet, 1847-1848. With East India Company catch pattern, 'F'. Captured from the Boers during the Boer War by Colonel O’Brien. Triangular blade, stamped L over 4, round armourer’s mark with lions head and maker’s name, Salter and Company. Socket with large perforated flange. Leather scabbard with brass mouthpiece and frog button and chape.
