Photographic collection, principally illustrating service with Rimington’s Column during the Boer War (1899-1902). Collected by Captain Raymond Bazley Johnson DSO, 6th Inniskilling Dragoons 1898-1910. Units featured in the photographs are the Royal Scots Greys, the Northumberland Fusiliers, the Inniskilling Dragoons and Australian troops. Locations featured in South Africa are Colesburg, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and the Transvaal. Dublin, Ireland is also featured. Subjects covered are horses, monkeys, ox-drawn transport, the ships Bavarian and Kildonan Castle, a hospital, manoeuvres, prisoners of war and a theatrical performance. Associated personalities are Capt Johnson, Louis Botha, Tobias Smuts, and Major General Sir Michael Rimington.
