Typescript transcript of letter written by Australian Steamer, Sir William Gordon, Bart, 17th Light Dragoons (Lancers), to his mother, 30 Oct 1854. He describes his experiences of the Charge of the Light Brigade whilst recovering from 'a few cracks on the head' which he got during the action. He regretted arriving 'a day too late for the Battle of the Alma'. Associated with the Battle of Balaklava, Crimean War (1854-1856).
