Colour of the 10th Battalion, Sudanese Regiment, Egyptian Army, 1883.

The Colour was presented to the 10th Battalion by Captain Benjamin Donisthorpe Alsop Donne, who was responsible for the raising of the unit, in 1883. Donne was on secondment from the Royal Sussex Regiment. The Colour was carried in action at Suakin, 1 Mar-14 May 1885, and the battles of Gemaizah, 20 December 1888, and Toski, 3 August 1889, during the Egyptian Campaign against the Mahdist Dervish Leader, Abdullahi ibn Muhammed (The Khalifa) (1846-1899).
