Description
Manuscript account: Defence of the Malakand 26 July - 2 August 1897. One of two manuscript accounts written by Lt Reginald Merton Barff, 45th Sikhs. The Pathan onslaughts upon the 45th Sikh's positions cost them 3,200 men and established these actions on the North West Frontier in the folklore of the Indian Army. Associated with India, North West Frontier, Malakand Field Force (1897-1888).
