Shako plate, officer’s, 76th Regiment, 1844-1855.
Superimposed upon a gilt metal, eight-pointed, rayed star, the battle honours, 'Hindoostan; Nive; Penins'. Upon the centre of the star, crossed sprays of laurel and palm within which is a garter bearing the word, 'Regiment'. Within the garter, the numeral, '76'.
Above the garter, a representation of an elephant statant, surmounted by a monarchial crown.
