Description
Letter with AB 'Armee Britanique' stamp from John King to Paymaster William Chaigream at Ghent, dated Lessines Camp, 1 Jun 1745. King requests that £200 be advanced to enable him to purchase a vacancy in 'our' regiment. Although Chaigream was paymaster of the Royal Dragoons, a John King was promoted to Lieutenant in the 37th Foot on 8 Aug 1745.
