Description
Fragments of the Cuffley airship, 1916. Shot down by Capt Leefe Robinson VC at Potter's Bar. Associated with World War One, Air Operations (1914-1918) and World War One, Home Front (1914-1918). 2/Lt (later Capt VC) William Leefe Robinson shot down SL11 (Shutte-Lanz - technically an airship rather than a Zeppelin) commanded by Wilhelm Schram, over Cuffley near Potters Bar on the night of 3 Sep 1916. Zeppelin L31 was shot down over Potters Bar on the night of 1 Oct 1916 by 2/Lt W J Tempest, the renowned Zeppelin commander Lt Heinrich Mathy was killed.
