Description
Indian 1/4 anna Service Post Card, Germany, Aug 1916. Sent by Sepoy Manga Khan, 33rd Punjabis to Liut for Officer Commanding Depot 33rd Punjabis. Sepoy Khan was a prisoner of war in Halbmondlager, Zossen, Germany. Postcard is cancelled ‘BAREILLYCANT’, with ‘PASSED CENSOR / 21 / BOMBAY’ circular stamp and unframed ‘geprüft’ stamp. On the reverse is a message in Urdu, dated ‘28-8-16’, with a countersignature and unframed ‘LIEUT For Officer Comdg. depot 33rd. Punjabis’ in violet. Zossen was a prisoner of war camp for Muslims.
