Description
Match holder, presented by Sir W B Hickie to Lt Col H F N Jourdain, 1916-1919. Silver by Asprey and Company Limited, Birmingham, 1918-1919. Rectangular match holder with three divisions. The striking panel which should be on the bottom is missing. Inscribed 'HFNJ/ from WBH (in facsimile manuscript) 16TH (IRISH) DIV./ FRANCE 1916'. Stamped on the bottom is 'SIRUS/ PATENT'. Inside the lid, 'ASPREY LONDON'. Relating to 16th (Irish) Division and 2nd Bn, 88th Regiment of Foot (Connaught Rangers). Associated with World War One, Western Front (1914-1918).
