Pamphlet, nd. Includes details of the battalion's duties at Lucknow in India and prior to the outbreak of war and the fighting in North Africa in 1941. Dendy was captured by the Italians during the Battle of Alem Hamza at Halfaya Pass in December 1941 and transferred to a prisoner of war camp in Italy, where he had made several escape attempts. After the Italian armistice he was transferred to a German prisoner of war camp. One of four copies of a brief history of Lt Col Richard Heathfield Dendy's service with 1st Bn, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment), from 1937 to December 1941, and his subsequent experiences as a prisoner of war.
