Description
Zulu spear, 1879. Associated with Army Staff. Double edged iron blade, cylindrical tang, light brown wooden shaft with leather wrapped around one end. RUSI catalogue states this to be an assegai taken during the Zulu War from the French Prince Imperial Louis Napoleon’s body by Capt Grier, although the Sherwood Foresters have another spear reputed to have been found near the body.
