Microfilm copies of manuscript despatches to the Secretary of State for War relating to the operations against the Kaffir chief Sekukuni, in the Transvaal in late 1879.
The force engaged was designated the Transvaal Field Force, and was under the command of Col Baker Russell.
Included in the collection is a report by Russell on the campaign, a return of casualties sustained at Sekukuni’s Town, 28 Nov, a ‘Diary of Proceedings’, 10 November- 3 December, with maps, a ‘Diary of Proceedings on the western side of the Zulu Mountains from 22 Oct 1879’, and a report by the Principal Medical Officer, Sgn Maj John Woolfryes.
