Description
Letter from Maj Gen (later Lt Gen Sir) Alfred Reade Godwin-Austen, (1889-1963), commanding the 13th Corps in the Middle East to Maj, later Col, E C Priestley, Army Educational Corps, 20 Oct 1941. Godwin-Austen expresses his opinion both of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the Emperor Haile Selassie, including an anecdote about the near shooting of the Emperor by a sentry of the Gold Coast Regiment.
