Silver tankard, 1864.
Presented to Captain J F Sherer, 49th Bengal Native Infantry, by the Calcutta Hockey Club, February 1864.
Silver, by marked with initials ‘T R’, possibly Thomas Rush, London hallmarks 1732-1733. 
Hinged lid; inscribed in cartouche; decorated with cast and chased flowers, acanthus leaves and C-scrolls; stepped foot; ‘?’-shaped handle with hinge and flange; gilt interior; donor suggests the lower part of the handle was intended to be used as a whistle to attract a barman’s attention when the tankard was drained.
