Indexed 'journal' kept by Lt Gen John Adlercron 39th Regiment of Foot, January 1754-October 1758, of his command in India covering the period from his appointment to his return to the Cove of Cork nearly five years later. The bulk of the contents comprise transcripts of letters written and received, with the conventional 'diary' entries being brief. The correspondence was chiefly with the Duke of Cumberland, the Earl of Holderness, Henry Fox, George Pigot, the Governor of Madras, Richard Starke, the Deputy Governor of Fort St David and Admiral Charles Watson. The text opens with details of Adlercron's appointment to the command and his visits in London to the King, Duke of Cumberland and various ministers.
