Description
Canteen set, owned by Lt Henry Hay, 1st Bombay Light Cavalry (Lancers), 1880 (c). Containing: steel knife blade is impressed, ‘BEST BRITISH CUTLERY’, length 18.0 cm; fork with four prongs, blade impressed, ‘F & SS. BP.’; spoon with an egg shaped bowl; the blades of all pieces fold into their ivory handles; cutlery is wrapped in a leather holder with five loops and contained in a pewter mug; all contained on a leather case with a buckle and strap.
