Photocopy of manuscript letterbook: Private Letter Book. Belonging to Maj Gen Sir William Mansfield, Chief of Staff to Commander in Chief in India (Gen Lord Clyde) covering the period 5 May- 26 Sept 1859. The letters are chiefly addressed to senior officers and officials in India and relate to the post-Mutiny changes in the Indian Army with particular reference to the problem of the Bengal European troops.
