Upon the centre of a gilt metal, eight-pointed, rayed star, a silver, eight-pointed rayed star in relief upon the centre of which is a frosted gilt metal Garter with roped borders bearing the Garter motto.
Within the Garter a silver representation in relief, of Exeter Castle upon a gilt frosted ground. Above the silver star and displacing the uppermost point of the gilt star, a monarchial crown.
The central device is attached to the gilt star plate by means of four brass loops with brass pin fittings.
On each transverse arm of the gilt star, on reverse, a copper loop fitting.
