Photocopy and typescript transcript of a manuscript letter written to his mother by Lt Charles Jadis, Nova Scotia Fencible Infantry, St John's, Newfoundland, 10 Jul 1805. Jadis had been obliged to exchange out of the Canadian Fencibles on their disbandment, ane he complains of the expenses of being on the recruiting service, the high price of food in Canada and the lack of promotion prospects. He asks his mother to attempt to pull some strings for him in London.
