Napkin ring, 1890 (c). Silver plate, with maker's name inscribed on inner edge, 'P ORR & SONS, MADRAS', 1890 (c). Belonged to William Norman Ralph Bates, Madras Staff Corps. Engraved with the entwined, decorated initials, 'NB', for Norman Bates, in a black leather presentation box. Presentation box is lined with blue velvet, the lid with blue silk, and with maker's name stamped in gold lettering inside lid.
