Description
Lifesaving Medal 1831. Gold. Awarded to Cdr Henry Fage Belson, Royal Navy by the Ministere de la Marine, France. Cdr Belson was the nephew of Sir Charles Belson and the brother of George John Belson. He was discharged from the Royal Navy in 1827 at the rank of Lieutenant and won this medal for rescuing the French troopship Loire whilst in command of the steam mail-packet Confiance.
