Tie pin, 1889. Given to John Strange Spencer Churchill when he was nine years old by the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, during Cowes Week 1889. Manufactured by Tiffany and Company, 221 Regent Street, London, 1889 (c). Pin is a single circular diamond surrounded by 12 sapphires, set in a square gold plated mount. Hand inscribed on mount, '9911'. In original Tiffany and Company box. Maj John Strange Spencer Churchill served with Queen's Oxfordshire Hussars.
