Royal Humane Society Medal, 1895. Awarded to Major Arthur Horsman Coles CMG DSO, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment), for saving a boy, who had fallen into the River Lea, from drowning, 3rd June 1895. The Royal Humane Society is a charity, established in 1774, which seeks to acknowledge men and women involved in life-saving. From the collection of the former Buffs Regimental Museum.
