Pattern 1822 Gothic guard sword, nd. Belonged to Lt Stanley Malcolm Edwardes, 2nd Bombay Infantry, later Gen Sir Stanley de Burgh Edwardes, KCB. Light type sword possibly for Dress with inscribed blade. Brass gothic pattern hilt with hinged fall and oval cartouche with monogram VR under crown and resting on a spray of shamrock and thistle. Grip of rayskin with copper wire binding. Stepped pommel. With brass scabbard with two suspension rings, chape worn.
