Description
Turkish shamshir, with scabbard, 1800-1900 (c). Presented by Gen Sir William Inglis (Sen) to Gen Sir William Cockburn. Turkish ladder-patterned damascening. Plain, curved blade. Straight crossguard with globular quillons. Horn grip shaped to fingers, with silver rivets. Pommel projecting on one side. Connecting chain from pommel to quillon. Leather sword knot and tassel.
