Captain (later General Sir) David Leighton (1774-1860), 4th Regiment [Bombay] Native Infantry, ADC to Commander in Chief, 1804 (c). Oil on board, artist unknown, 1804 (c) Three-quarter-length, in aide de camp’s uniform, standing before a draped column. Although Captain Leighton wears the uniform of an ADC to the Commander in Chief for the period 1799-1804, his appointment to that post does not appear in the 'East India Register' He was later Colonel of the 7th Bombay Native Infantry.
