Pattern 1788, Heavy Cavalry Officer Sword, 4th (Royal Irish) Dragoon Guards, 1794; the blade is straight and flat back, with engraved decoration, including the maker’s name, Thomas Gill, Regimental device, and the owner’s initials; wrought iron basket guard; wooden grip covered in fish skin and bound with copper wire; black leather scabbard; owned by Thomas Mellifont.
