Tankard with lid, manufacturer unknown. Hallmarked London, 1802. Presented by Col Sargent to Capt J H Le Cocq of the Buffs Regiment on his promotion, 1864 (c). Silver. Cylindrical tapering body, decorated by horizontal bands. Undecorated S-shaped handle. Grille-shaped thumb-piece. Flat lid, engraved with dragon over scroll and Buffs motto, in front of two crossed colours, below a crown and ‘The Buffs’/ Dragon over scroll and The Buffs motto in front of two crossed colours below a crown engraved on lid.
