Regimental medal for merit awarded to Capt Joseph Vandercors, Dowgate Ward Volunteers, 1799. Silver. Obverse: A garter surmounted by a monarchial crown. Below the garter a scroll. Reverse: Centrally, the initials ‘DV’ surmounted by a monarchial crown and flanked by twin sprays of laurel. Below the junction of the sprays a shield charged with the arms of the City of London (a cross in the first quarter a sword per pale point upwards). Capt Vandercors’ name is given in the Volunteer lists as ‘Vandercom’, he was commissioned on 25 Jul 1798.
