Officer's shoulder belt plate, 15th Regiment of Madras Native Infantry, 1840 (c)

Design mounted upon a frosted gilt-copper rectangular plate with rounded corners and burnished bevelled edges.
A white metal diamonté Maltese cross with double burnished faceted borders and a single line of hatching between the borders.
Upon the cross, in gilt-metal, a laurel wreath within which is a circlet with rope-pattern borders bearing the pierced title, 'Regiment', upon a frosted white metal ground.
Within the circlet, the embellished pierced Roman numerals, 'XV', upon a domed horizontally hatched white metal ground.
