Levée sword, 17th Lancers, 1830-1850 (c).
Engraved with regiment and maker’s name, Moore.
With pipebacked blade, slightly curved with sharpened back for 20cms.
Engraved inside with acanthus foliage, trophy, crown skull and crossbones, crossed lances underneath, ‘OR GLORY XVII LANCERS’.

Outside of blade is similar save for maker’s name.
Hilt, crossguard, gilt brass with reserved curvilinear decoration reserved.
Grip, facetted ivory with ornamental rivets. Annular rivet in pommel. The shape of the hilt mameluke.
Knot, much tarnished.
