Mounted design on a burnished white metal rectangular plate with rounded corners.
In copper, a faceted saltire, at the centre of which is a white metal elephant with a howdah, upon a ground, facing dexter.
Between the upper arms of the saltire, the gilt metal figure of St Andrew, above which is a frosted gilt metal scroll bearing the burnished motto, 'Fortitudo Et Fidelitas'.
Below the saltire is a frosted gilt metal scroll bearing the burnished title, 'Dumbartonshire Volunteers'.
