Description
Officers’ shoulder belt plate, 4th (Dumfriesshire) North British Militia, 1798-1801. Mounted upon a burnished copper gilt ground, a white metal design of a spray of thistles within a garter with a rope pattern border. Above the garter, a crown and ribbons. Reverse bears a hook and two stud fittings and is backed with a piece of oval chamois leather.
