Black patented leather box which opens out flat. On inside of front are five vertical loops of black elastic. On one side a loop of similar elastic. On inside of back are two horizontal loops of black elastic. On outside of pouch on each side, belt fittings of acorn and oak leaf design of gilt metal. On base of pouch a gilt metal stud for attaching to a black leather strap sewn to underside of frontal flap. Black patented leather frontal flap bears the following gilt metal design: within a laurel wreath having superimposed upon its base a scroll bearing the date 1844, the pierced entwined letters B C below which is a frosted scroll bearing the battle honour SCINDE. Above all is a lion passant gardant upon an heraldic wreath, below which is the Roman numeral IV.
