Gilt brass bearing the following die-struck design: within a Garter bearing the Garter motto, having a monarchial crown superimposed upon the upper part, the cypher, 'GRVI'. Below all is a scroll bearing the title, 'Royal Engineers'. On reverse the manufacturers name, 'Buttons Ltd B'ham' plus trade mark of two crossed swords.
