French sword, similar to French Infantry Officer's sword pattern 1821, though shorter. Possibly used by the Militia, 1821 (c)-1830 (c). Highly decorative sword, blade has blued and gilt decoration and letters, possibly 'SHJ' engraved into a band close to the hilt. Hilt is bound with black leather and metal wire and has floral motifs incorporated into the design.
