Pattern 1865 Broadsword, Gordon Highlanders, 1914; blade is inscribed with the regiment’s name, the owner’s name, P T Pirie, with the date, 4th Aug 1914, and the maker’s name, Meyer and Mortimer; basket hilt with red lining for dress and red fringe; alternative, undress cross hilt; the Black Watch regiment also carried this type of cross hilt.
