Superimposed upon the motto scroll at the centre is a white metal frosted oval bearing the burnished numeral and letters, '1st V.B.' Below the Arms, a gilding-metal scroll bearing the burnished title, 'Manchester'. The reverse bears a vertical brass slider fitting.
