Piper's kilt, 279th (Lowland) Field Regiment Royal Artillery (TA), sealed pattern, dated 14 February 1956 Made by Hobson & Sons (London) Ltd, 1956 Kennedy tartan. The 279th Field Regiment was formed in 1947 on the reforming of the Territorial Army with headquarters at Ayr. In 1961 on the reduction of the Territorial Army it was amalgamated with the 280th Field Regiment.
