This unit was raised in 1803 by Sir Richard Puleston in the hundred of Maylor, Flintshire. It was part of the ‘Flintshire Legion’ which comprised four troops of cavalry and a number of rifle companies.  When the Maylor Legion was dissolved the Royal Maylor cavalry were renamed the Royal Maylor Yeomanry and were disbanded in 1828. they were raised again in 1830 but disbanded in 1837.
