Watercolour by Adrian Jones (1845-1938), 1915, two gun teams of the Royal Horse Artillery, headed by an officer, cantering across sand dunes. Naval destroyers are at sea in the distance.

The artist was originally a veterinary surgeon who served in the Army for 23 years with the 3rd Hussars, Queen’s Boys and 2nd Life Guards. He later became famous as a sculptor of horses.
